Between the rain and the wind and the unseasonably low temperatures it is time we Durban dwellers made a plan B for what we do with our leisure time. Durban is not really built for inclement weather so here are some ideas to keep you warm.
The movies….always a good backstop, but at the moment a movie called ‘Hope Springs’ is out and it has caused a sensation in the States. Starring Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones with Steve Carrell as their therapist, it is tipped to win lots of Oscars and the performances are amazing. If your marriage is in a rut, or has just been going on rather a long time, get down to Ster Kinekor dragging your other half by the collar and give this a watch.
The gym is a good cool weather alternative, if you are getting withdrawals from healthy outdoor exercise, and we do have beautiful gyms, with a wealth of activities for even the most sedentary customer. If you are not a gym bunny then maybe the pub is a plan. Find one with local ales and you are away.
My favourite cold weather warm up is to head to Cleopatra Farmhouse in the Midlands and sit by a roaring fire. Take your warmest clothes, stoke the fire with logs, order a single malt and relax with your loved ones. A cottage with a fireplace has much the same result, and before we know it the sun will be out and normal service will be restored.
