Reach For A Dream Ladies Golf Day raises R60 000.

November 11, 2011. On Wednesday, November 9, Umhlali Country Club was full to the brim with lovely ladies, many of whom travelled a long way to help make dreams come true for children suffering with life-threatening illnesses.

Every year Reach For A Dream organises a fundraising golf day, sponsored by Weiss Volkswagen/Unitrans, and this year was a particular success. The four balls sold like hot cakes and the field was at maximum capacity on what was a stunning sunny day.

Lady Pro, Ashleigh Simon, was there on the day wowing the ladies with sublime skills and offering to take their shots in the competition for additional fundraising. Ashleigh was the youngest player to win the ladies’ South African Amateur Stroke Play and Match Play double and the first player in 101 years to win the Ladies South African Open title three times.

Afterwards the ladies were treated to a lunch, given goodie bags packed with samples and had the pleasure of the company of Penny Rey Coelen as guest speaker. Penny, of course, was South Africa’s first Miss World in 1958. Penny dished out the wonderful prizes. Every lady went home with a prize and the lucky winners (Jeanette Peyios, Lan Yeadon, Barbara Bartlett and Judy Hoffman) walked away with a Defy microwave oven and 2-night stay for 2 each, at Le Franschhoek Hotel & Spa.

All profits go towards making dreams come true for children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
