Rewind – The 80s Festival

By The Ridge Magazine05/01/20122 Mins Read

January 2012: Remember acid wash jeans, poodle hairstyles, shoulder pads, scrunchies, laced up gloves, dodgy little black sand shoes, high top sneakers and, of course, the Madonna look? Well brace yourselves darlings, because many of the real heroes of the 80s pop scene are heading to South Africa and will be performing in Durban on February 25, 2012.

REWIND – THE 80S FESTIVAL heads to Durban’s Kings Park Stadium on February 25, 2012, boasting the biggest outdoor line-up of 80s recording artists and performers ever seen in SA.

Originally launched in the UK in 2009, the festival was a surprise success, attracting more than 30 000 people.  In its second year the festival grew to sell-out capacity and saw the biggest line up of artists since Live Aid.  It has subsequently been touring the world to massive success, and there’s every reason to believe that 80s-starved SA fans will flock to see these legends of bad taste and brilliant music.

South Africans will be treated to one of the most rocking line-ups in the festivals history:

  • Tony Hadley from Spandau Ballet
  • Howard Jones
  • Rick Astley
  • Marc Almond – Soft Cell
  • Midge Ure from Ultravox
  • ABC – Martin Fry
  • Nik Kershaw
  • Go West
  • The Village People
  • Imagination – Leee John

Where: King’s Park Stadium
When: February 25, 2012
Tickets available at Computicket. Ticket Prices: seating from R250; field R300 and R700 VIP.
