The eLan Foundation is hosting a Royal Luncheon to witness the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton live at the Riverside Hotel in Durban North. While enjoying a luncheon fit for a king, attendees will also be contributing to some of the much-needed community projects run by the eLan Foundation.
The foundation, a Section-21 NGO, signed a lease for Lot 409 in Shakashead from KwaDukuza Municipality in April 2010. At the same time the foundation took over the lease, they started working with other organisations in the area and invited them to join in the vision that was being created for the centre – to create a place of hope for the community, and to meet the social and well-being needs of the community. One of these NPO’s is KwaMama.

Founder of KwaMama, Frieda Bontkowskyj, is clear about her passions: “Our priority is to care for the neglected children who are left to fend for themselves during the day. Our day care is for toddlers and young children. We also accommodate after-school children who are fed and nurtured free of charge as long as they live in the community”. About 140 children are registered at KwaMama, varying in age from 2 to 6!
All proceeds raised from the event will go to the eLan Foundation and KwaMama Day Care. The day promises to be filled with laughter, good cheer, and generosity – all for a wonderful cause!
