Ruth’s fresh new makeover

By The Crest Magazine05/01/20152 Mins Read
After the makeover

Ruth Juckes, 59, rector’s wife of St Agnes Church in Kloof, came to Fay and Megan with life-long insecurities on how to dress.

“On meeting Fay, I explained that I had previously been colour-coded as a ‘winter’, which she immediately disagreed with and asked if we could start the process from scratch.

“After spending a lot of time assessing my skin tone, Fay colour-coded me as a ‘spring’, which led to virtually my entire wardrobe been dumped on the bed as incorrect! Fay and Megan have challenged me, shocked me, amazed me and – most of all – encouraged me to step out into this new look.

“I have received so much more than I expected, as they taught me to shop choosing the correct colours and styles, to apply my make-up and the most cataclysmic change of all – they changed my hair colour!”

Brilliant stylist Grant Harper of Terry Scott Hair Design used a combination of dark golden brunette blonde with a few blonde highlights to create warmth in Ruth’s grey hair. He also used a graduation and undercutting technique to create volume and to enhance her curl.

“I had believed a lie my entire life: that I was plain and unattractive. This makeover has been so much more than just changing the external. For me, it has also been a deep change within. Fay and Megan, I cannot thank you enough for your guidance and expertise, and for the fact that I have made two delightful new friends.”
