On Thursday, 05 November, the SPCA waved goodbye to their darling Demi – the resident kennel dog at the Kloof and Highway SPCA.
Demi arrived at the SPCA in 2011 when she was brought in by Inspectors as she was severely emaciated, almost completely hairless and so frightened. It took weeks for the staff to gain her trust and from all their hard work and efforts a beautiful blonde, friendly and humorous dog emerged- full of character with so much love to give everyone. A decision was made to adopt Demi into the SPCA family and she would live at the SPCA as the office dog until the right person came along.
She has spent four happy years with them – having the full run of the SPCA premises and offices and sitting in on many meetings. She has crept into all staff, volunteers and visitors hearts. Dedicated volunteer dog walker, Gavin Illingworth, is now the new proud owner of our darling Demi – they have always shared a special bond and he offered to adopt her and have her join his family of two Labradors and a Spaniel. Demi has seen hundreds of dogs going home to their forever homes and finally it was her turn – Oh Happy Day.
Many happy tears were shed by staff and volunteers as they bid her farewell, but they’re so thrilled that she has found such an incredible owner and loving home. A big thank-you to Gavin!
