Over one hundred St Mary’s DSG Old Girls journeyed back to their alma mater on Saturday 17 August to celebrate up to seven decades out of school.
Women from the matric years of 2003, 1993, 1983, 1973, 1963 and even 1943 enjoyed a cosy winter’s day together, reconnecting and reminiscing.
The day began with a moving chapel service presided over by school chaplain, Gill Padoa. There were emotional tributes for Old Girls who had passed away and the beautiful school choir performance and school hymn created memories for everyone present.
Mrs Robyn Sandy then gave a presentation on the St Mary’s Foundation Trust, which aims to ultimately support a variety of bursaries to deserving girls who would otherwise not be able to attend the school.

The Old Girls then enjoyed High Tea with champagne and decadent cakes donated by Chateau Gateaux in Hillcrest.
St Mary’s DSG and the Old Girls Guild were honoured to have hosted this amazing group of women who took the time out of their busy schedules to revisit their school years.
Special mention must be made to Mrs Ann Hotchkiss, who celebrated a wonderful milestone of 70 years out of school, and the Old Girls’ committee who were able to make a day like this happen.
