MTB Race and Opening of Sugar Rush Adventure Centre
To coincide with the opening of the Sugar Rush Adventure Centre, Sugar Rush Adventures CC in association with The Russell White Academy are hosting the first in a new series of annual Mountain Bike events – The Sugar Rush Classic on 9th of June 2013.
New 5km, 20km and 45km trails have been designed and built by well known sports coach, competitive athlete and trail designer Russell White for The Sugar Rush Classic Event. The race starts from the Sugar Rush Adventure Centre, Collisheen Estate, Ballito. There will be prizes and Spot prizes for the competitors , as well as entertainment for the youngsters so it will also be a fun filled family event.
The Sugar Rush Adventure Centre is an exciting new adventure destination for locals and tourists alike. Situated on a 10ha piece of land at Collisheen Ballito, this Centre boasts a FloriCulture Centre, a Winery, an Adventure Zone for Kids, internal and external Mountain Bike Trails and a refreshment zone.
Sugar Rush CC has been organising events as well as running the Sugar Rush Kids Academy on the North Coast of KZN for the past 3 years. Due to demand, in the fast growing economic area of Ballito, this new dedicated Cycling Hub for the burgeoning cyclist fraternity and their families has been developed and will now be home to Sugar Rush cc as well as the Cycling Academy. With the support of the owners of over 20 farms, who have willingly made their properties available for MTB Trails , Sugar Rush and Russell White will be able to grow the Mountain Biking and Trail Running in this area.
Ultimately the aim of the Sugar Rush team is to grow the number of MTB Trails for all levels of riders. Part of the offering will include weekend and holiday camps for children interested in the sport, expanding the ladies groups of riders, growing the number of “development” riders and channelling funds into the participating farms to ensure that permanent green lungs are well maintained for riding purposes and are protected from development.
