A dedicated group of Honourary Officers volunteer their time and expertise to support and assist Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife. Now, they’re offering you the chance to win a weekend away for two at Tembe Lodge in Tembe Elephant Park.
Donate R100 to the Tembe Honourary Officer African Wild Dog GPS Collar Fundraising Initiative and you’ll be entered into a draw to win two nights at the lodge for two people, including all meals and two 4×4 game drives daily.
Tembe is located in Northern Tongoland on the border between KZN and Mozambique. In January 2011, the team released a pack of wild dogs into the reserve for the very first time. It is vitally important that they are constantly monitored – their movements, their habitat, their breeding, their diet, and possible threats – to ensure the wild dogs ultimate survival in Tembe and as a whole.
Accurate, real-time data is critical to make good management decisions and more appropriate equipment, namely GPS collars, is urgently needed to suit the reserve’s terrain. However, there are simply no funds available for these expensive collars which come at a price of +/- R55 000 each. The park needs two!
