Lauren Laing is a young artist with enormous potential who will be showcasing her talents at the Rotary Club of Kloof’s Durban Pops on Saturday 16 November.
Lauren’s singing career began at the age of seven, when she appeared in the Playhouse Company’s production of ‘The Sound of Music’. Since then, Lauren has appeared in several musicals including ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’ and ‘Annie’.
One of her most memorable performances as a young artist was performing for and meeting Nelson Mandela.
She has recorded with Garth Taylor and Prokid and released her own album “Bounce”. The album produced a hit single, “For the Girls”, which appeared on the charts of East Coast Radio and 5FM.
Lauren is also the Brand and Communications Manager for Wildlands Conservation Trust and also finds time to perform for charities of her choice.
Inspired by a young leukaemia patient, Lauren released a popular original song and music video entitled “The Day I Sang for You”. The aim of the song was to create awareness for the need to increase the bone marrow registry of South Africa in the hope of finding donor matches for children suffering with life-threatening blood disorders.
Proud career moments for Lauren include performing with musical legends Ray Phiri, Khaya Mthethwa, Judith Sephuma and Loyiso Bala.
Lauren will be performing with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, under conductor Richard Cock, at the 30th Celebration of the Durban Pops in association with Adapt IT.
The high profile charity event takes place on Saturday 16 November at 6:30pm at Durban City Hall. Circle tickets cost between R200 and R220 which includes snacks, beer, wine, and cool drinks. Visit www.webtickets.co.za to book.
