Staying on the East Coast with our glorious sunshine, there’s no excuse to not have silky smooth skin all year round.
And with the first WaxIt wax bar having recently opened in KZN at the Ballito Lifestyle Centre – offering a wide range of waxing treatments for men, women and teenagers – defuzzing yourself has never been easier.
I was invited to try out the WaxIt “experience” and came away having thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was friendly but professional, discreet and confidential – and even though I’m not a fan of pain (who is?) – the discomfort was short and sweet.
One of the key benefits to WaxIt is that they specialise only in waxing. No other beauty treatments – just waxing – from your eyebrows to your toes, and everything in between. This alone says they’re serious about the business of hair removal and have invested in the best products and experts to do the job.
“It’s been so satisfying to see how many men and women have left our ‘sanctuary of smooth’ without having to painstakingly wait for an appointment to open up or wincing at the price of what their waxing costs. It will probably surprise a lot of people to know that 40% of our customer base are male with lots of sportsmen coming in to remove hair on their legs, backs and areas ‘below the belt’ to avoid chaffing,” says franchisee, Sharon Andrew.
This novel “waxing only” concept has also evolved to not only offering consumers head to toe treatments with special deals for moms and daughters and even Epilfree permanent hair removal, but the brand has developed its very own locally produced hypoallergenic wax. WaxIt’s focus this year is to continue producing their wax and products by using locally-grown African botanical ingredients – helping to support local farmers. According to Sharon, to achieve the best waxes you need the best products – especially if you have sensitive skin.
“You won’t find a faster, more professional waxing service anywhere else, and we put particular emphasis on our customers’ privacy as well as our commitment to cleanliness. We really do strive to create an environment that is clean and professional and sets the standard for hygiene, sanitation and wax care,” enthuses Sharon.
And what are the most popular treatments? According to Sharon, the Hollywood, followed by legs and underarms are popular with women, while for men it’s the full back. And if it’s your thing, they also offer niche treatments such as “vagacials”.
While we’re still basking in our glorious sunshine, now’s the time to try out WaxIt. Be smooth… be silky smooth.
