Having moved into exceptional new premises, this maritime shipping company needed sophisticated interiors to suit its global presence.
The owner had previously contracted Umhlanga-based decorator, Paula Grobbelaar, to work on his home and invited her back to manage this commercial project. “Decorating a corporate space requires a very different approach to finishing a living space,” says Paula, “and I have loved the challenge.”
The 20 000m2 facility is used by 170 staff and has six pause areas and bathrooms, all of which had to be completed in the new look. Paula gave a subtle nod to the company colours, incorporating them into cushions and other accessories.
A stylish space to entertain clients was high on the owner’s wish list and the end result is far more hotel chic than industrial.
Paula Grobbelaar has been decorating homes for almost 10 years, a passion that began when she bought and renovated her first home. Since then, she has worked on various domestic and commercial projects across SA, as well as in the UK and Australia, using her trademark contemporary classic style.
