Top Gear’s mystery racing driver The Stig was in Durban Wednesday fine tuning his driving skills on South African soil ahead of the Top Gear Festival coming to town this month.
After checking out the Moses Mabhida Stadium, where the gargantuan stadium show will take place, he took a drive round the local roads where Top Gear Live’s first ever street circuit will be staged and even took in a few local sites.
The Stig pushed a BMW M3, Porsche GT3 RS & Birkin S3 to their limits in the grounds of the iconic stadium as he demonstrated his legendary driving skills taking time to share a few driving tips with Sharks rugby stars Lawazi Mvovo, Ryan Kankowski, Odwa Ndugane and Coach, John Plumtree along with other celebrities such as Gareth Cliff of 5fm, Sasha Martinengo of Supersport’s Absolute Formula 1 and Darren Maule of East Coast Radio’s Breakfast Stack.
Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will join The Stig next month as they stage their biggest ever live show in the Moses Mabhida Stadium 16 & 17 June. In addition to the stadium show The Stig will be breaking out from the restraints of the stadium taking to the streets of Durban in a Lamborghini Aventador and a McLaren MP4/12. Also on show today was a Ferrari California, Lamborghini Gallardo and an Aston Martin Vantage Volante v8 just some of the cars that will join an array of the world’s most expensive, powerful and absurdly modified vehicles next June.
