October 4, 2011. Lotto operator Gidani, which runs the Lotto and Lotto Plus draws, announced that an unclaimed jackpot of R29 952 484 is soon to expire, The Mercury reported. The ticket was purchased in Umhlanga for the draw that took place on November 20, 2010.
A Gidani spokesman confirmed that the jackpot winner had not come forward, and had until 5pm on November 21, 2011 to claim the prize.
So Umhlanga residents (or anyone who visited Umhlanga and bought a lottery ticket at that time), it’s time to start going through your drawers and that scruffy old set of jeans . . . to fish out anything that could possibly resemble a lottery ticket.
R30 million . . . that’s a heck of a lot of cash to burn through.
