Tom Hewitt, the Englishman who has done so much for the street children of Durban is taking some of his protegees over to the UK next week to tell their stories and surf. The incredible journey that Tom has taken with these boys is something to inspire the stoniest heart.
These young men have taken what Tom and his organisation have offered and turned their lives around. Some of them now teach surfing themselves, while Tom lives his life committed to finding new ways to help and new frontiers to cross with this extraordinary band of ‘surfers not streetkids’.
The UK trip will be another extraordinary memory for Tom and the boys. We wish them well and I look forward to hearing all about their adventures.
