What a weekend for Durbanites. The weather looks set fair and the beaches are beckoning. We are so lucky to have this fabulous climate, who would think winter was upon us? If you are in a chilled frame of mind, then why not go for a lovely beach stroll and let the Ocean relax you, or take the father in your life out to do something special to thank him for another year of dedicated parenting?
If you are a motor enthusiast, you will already know that Top Gear is in town, it is hard to miss it! The tracks have been laid, the roar of engines has been heard for days and the excitement is building. Powered by Shell V-Power, the gang is here…..Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May for those of you who are not Top Gear addicts……and they are ready to entertain you even more spectacularly than last year.
The Stig will be performing even more terrifying stunts than last year, the Franschhoek Motor Museum will be showcasing cars you will never see anywhere else, and as for the Street Circuit, it’s even better than last year, 2.8kms long, and will be the venue for spectacular driving, drifting, and more.
Passenger rides will begin on Saturday and Sunday from 9.15 in the morning with daredevil handbrake turns, drag racing and much more to enjoy, and stunt shows in between at noon and 1.15pm.
This is a spectacular day out, and this year features so many new and exciting competitions I recommend getting there early and staying late. What about the Rugby Hot Rods Grudge Match, where the five South African SuperRugby teams compete against each other?
The packages for this event are selling rapidly, from the Classic Ticket at R495 all the way up to the Ultimate Package at R2100. All tickets are available from www.topgearfestival.co.za. Have a wonderful Durban jol this weekend.
