Imagine arriving at your destination and realising this is no ordinary place, it’s so much more… accommodation with a difference – a weekend in the trees.

After a slow journey along the Midlands Meander, we arrive at Sycamore Avenue Treehouses, just a kilometre off the N3. At avenues end, we’re greeted with a warm smile by owner Candice and ushered off to the Faraway treehouse.
Private and comfortable, this is so much more than just four walls and a roof. It’s an adult hideaway in an oak tree, which immediately evokes childhood memories and a playful excitement.
A visual feast awaited us – an artwork of spiral staircases, detailed ingenuity and creative genius crafted by a true artist – Bruce Attwood has worked magic with the woodwork on this project. The Sycamore Treehouses are a genuine labour of love.
The Faraway treehouse is cosy but remarkably spacious, covering two storeys. Below, there’s a deck, bathroom, fridge, a fireplace and a double bed with swinging side tables. Lead upstairs by a hand-carved spiral staircase, we find a jaccuzi, a large shower and a deck with hammock chair perfectly placed for the spectacular view of Giant’s Castle.
The treehouses are as delightful as their names, each with their own individual charm – the Romantic, Fantasy, Bottle, Planequarium, Pegasus and Faraway. If heights aren’t your thing, there are another two cottages at ground level.
Dinner was a wholesome affair served in the roomy diner, complete with a handcrafted wood honesty bar. The central fireplace is perfect for creating that countryside ambiance and fighting off the Midlands chill.
Exceptional hospitality, exquisite food and inspirational accommodation. We will definitely return when it snows.
