There was plenty of foot-stomping, drum beats and joyful celebrations from the uShaka Marine World Zulu Dance Championship finals, presented by the Department of Arts and Culture and Vodacom on Sunday 1 December.
With over 20 Zulu dance troupes from around the province vying for the title and showing off their talents, a wonderful display of entertainment was created for the public and judges alike.
At the end of the day, there could only be one winner of the R10 000 prize and 12 month working contract at uShaka valued at R350 000 and this went to Umlazi African Jingle.
The first runners up were Amazebra, taking home a R8000 cash prize, and in third were last year’s winners, Izinyamazane, winning R5000 in cash.
Umlazi African Jingle troupe leader, Senzo Vilakazi, wrapped up the day by saying, “We are so happy that we can entertain people with our dancing and win!”
