On Wednesday, April 20, 26 pupils from Amaoti 3 Primary joined the Easter bunny and first year education students at Varsity College Durban North for the college’s Annual Easter Celebration.
Amaoti 3 Primary School is an underprivileged school in the Amaoti Community with more than 1 300 pupils. Durban North based non-profit organisation Indlela runs various projects in the Amaoti community and in some of its schools. These projects are focused on educating and uplifting the community.

Staff members at Indlela get stuck into the demanding task of improving the lives of members of the community with passion, care and determination. Wherever it can, Varsity College Durban North tries to assist the organisation and children from Amaoti schools.
For this Easter event, the pupils enjoyed numerous activities, had their faces painted, prepared and decorated bags for the egg hunt and made bean bags.

When all this “work” was over, the highlight of the day – the Easter egg hunt – was on; the girls followed the Easter bunny to hiding places on the campus grounds, searching for the best eggs. After the hunt the girls took part in an obstacle course during which they hopped through hula hoops, balanced bean bags on their heads and water balloons on spoons. Needless to say, they all had a blast.
Not only were the 32 pupils who attended the event able to receive an assortment of Easter eggs, but thanks to the collection run on the Varsity College Durban North campus, and very generous donations from G4S, Pick ‘n Pay and Kensington Spar, the rest of the children at the school each received a little extra treat this Easter.
