Why not spend the morning of Saturday, August 20, walking Durban’s north coastline, socialising with friends and family while raising funds for the North Durban Honorary Officers and the Beachwood Mangroves Nature Reserve?

Varsity College Durban North will once again host a Beach Walk in aid of the North Durban Honorary Officers and the vulnerable Beachwood Mangroves Nature Reserve, a natural treasure for our community. This year’s walk will take place on August 20 and walkers can choose between a 5km and 10km route starting at Virginia Beach and Shipwreck Beach, respectively, with both ending at the picnic area in the mangroves.

Entrance is R30 for 5km walkers, R40 for 10km walkers and R15 for children under 12. Walkers will be served refreshments along the route and will be able to mingle with representatives from numerous environmental organisations after the walk. Prizes will be awarded for first across the finish line for both the 5km and 10km distance and there will also be a lucky draw for all entrants.
All proceeds will be donated to the North Durban Honorary Officers for improvements to their education centre at the Mangroves Reserve.
“Last year’s beach walk was an enjoyable morning with walkers raving about the event, and with such a worthy cause, it seemed only natural to run the event again this year,” said Lauren Williams, Student Relations Co-ordinator at Varsity College Durban North and Beach Walk organiser.
