Vega School Durban and KZN Invest will be hosting and launching the first Vega Talks on 29 June, 8:30 am for 9am – 11am.
Speakers include Nina Saunders, a renowned Durban-based architect with an international footprint. Nina believes that architects have a critical role to play in aligning City responses to spatial, social, environmental and economic challenges and to integrate emerging economies in the city making to create vibrant productive ‘city ecologies’.
Nina is a Programme Manager with the eThekwini Architecture Department in the Strategic Architectural Project Branch. From 2015 to 2018 she was the Acting Head of the Architecture Department. She was a key member of the team securing and coordinating the UIA 2014 Durban Bid and in implementing the Spatial Legacy Projects in the City of Durban as well as the Public Art and Cultural Activation Programmes as part of the Congress event. She received the SAIA President Certificate of Meritorious Service for her contribution to the UIA 2014 Durban Congress. Nina was the President of the SAIA-KZN Region from 2010 to 2012 and the Vice President of the South Africa Institute for Architects 2013. Nina delivered numerous keynote addresses both locally and abroad.
The second of the three speakers is Nox Luthuli, an enthusiastic change-maker, public speaker and marketing and brand leadership specialist. Nox believes that Durban and KZN can and should be repositioned as the Most Creative, Innovative & Investment Attractive Province in SA. Nox is a serial entrepreneur, passionate about life and her city, nurturing and developing brand for growth. Backed by 8 years of Corporate experience in Unilever management, Nox founded Bloom Marketing, an integrated marketing communications agency, specializing in Marketing Strategy Development and Brand Activations based in Durban and Johannesburg. She has been the MD of this award-winning agency for the past 13 years, crafting remarkable activation campaigns for multinational corporations such as Unilever, Perfetti Van Melle, Austrian Energy Drink ~ Powerhorse and leading local enterprises like Vodacom, National Brands, City of Joburg, Tourism KZN to name a few.
