Westown offers a brand new destination for living, working, shopping, business and recreational activities within a managed, urban environment that supports a range of amenities and facilities, including the retail offerings of Westown Square, The West Private Hospital, residential apartments, a warehousing and logistics precinct, commercial and business activities and an active green belt.
Led by Durban-based Fundamentum Property Group, the new city of the west is located on prime real estate off the N3 between Pietermaritzburg and Durban. A catalyst to unlocking the region’s investment potential of some R15-billion in new investment over the next 10 to 15 years, Westown will simultaneously increase the value of home and property prices in the greater region.
Locally driven and guided by a team that understands the context and potential of the place and all it offers, this mixed-use development focuses on harnessing the open spaces and ecological assets synonymous with the region such as horseriding, trail running, mountain biking, walking, birding and other outdoor pursuits.
The development of Westown has begun with the upgrade of Kassier Road, enabled by the eThekweni Municipality’s commitment to the funding of the development’s bulk infrastructure. The first phase to come on stream will be Westown Square, a 48 500m² retail high street environment designed to appeal to all ages, that will reach the greater Durban community with its regional tenant mix. This includes the anchors of an 8 500m² new generation Checkers Hyper and a 2 750m² Pick n Pay store together with a host of national fashion, health and beauty, and food brands.
