A total of 20 concert goers who were on their way to attend the Linkin Park concert at Green Point stadium on Wednesday 7 November sustained various injuries after two scaffolding towers collapsed on top of them. One woman later died from her injuries.

According to witnesses working at a soft drink promotional stand, strong winds had forced the towering structure to tilt over and collapse towards the Mouile Point side of the stadium. One witness described the collapse as a slow tilt over followed by a bang resembling a building collapse.

Various Emergency Services responded to the scene of the incident and found 20 concert goers who had sustained various injuries. Two people had sustained serious injuries ranging from suspected broken hip bones to various other broken bones, scrapes and bruises. A number of other patients had sustained injuries ranging from suspected back and neck injuries to various scrapes and bruises.
Ambulance personnel from ER24 and the WCG: EMS, as well as rescue workers from disaster management and fire and rescue services treated the patients at the scene, immobilising the patients with spinal equipment prior to moving them away from the scene.
Patients were loaded into various ambulances before being transported to various hospitals in the Cape Town area for further treatment. Local law enforcement officials also attended the scene and the cause of the incident will be investigated by the appropriate authority.
