Mr. Peter Ireland as the new CEO of Ithala SOC Limited (Limited) with effect from 1 April 2016. Peter is a qualified Chartered Accountant and also holds a Bachelor of Commerce and BCompt Honours degrees.
Peter has over 25 years of experience of which 15 years has been at senior executive level in various organisations such as Bio Science Brands, The Unlimited and Research International, IDFC to name but a few and including Limited. Peter has served as a Director for a Johannesburg Stock Exchange listed company that contributed immensely to his skills regarding corporate governance. Overall he brings with him diverse experience from various industry sectors.
This is the first time in more than 10 years and 5 CEOs that Limited has appointed a CEO from within the business by promoting one of its competent senior executives.
Peter has played an instrumental role in Limited’s turnaround. Therefore, he will not only hit the ground running but he has a fair appreciation of the challenges, opportunities, capacity and the people. Another advantage of appointing from internally is that, this will facilitate the growth of hard working and competent Ithala’s staff because of his knowledge of the people as opposed to a history where senior vacancies were largely filled by external people without grooming our existing staff.
Some of his key deliverables in the short and intermediate terms in his new role will be the following:
Ø Ensure the sustainable profitability and growth of Limited
Ø Invest in the growth and development of the staff of Limited
Ø Acquisition of a Full Banking Licence
