The 5th Annual Mum’s Mail Ladies Breakfast in association with The Sunflower Fund was held on 23 March at The Victoria Country Club in Pietermaritzburg. The theme was ‘Oriental’ and the ladies pulled out all the stops dressing in their Asian inspired ensembles.
There was a complimentary pamper station, courtesy of iNsingizi Spa, where guests could relax and have their feet and hands massaged, Pop Up Coffee serving delicious free cappuccinos, a variety of expo stalls for some retail therapy, as well as a fun photo booth by Oakleigh Funeral Home to capture all the excitement. The ladies were also treated to a fabulous goodie bag, a gift from B.O.N Natural Oils, a delicious hot breakfast and exciting lucky draw prizes. There was also a prize for the best dressed guest, who was hand-picked by fashion designer Karen Monk-Klijnstra and hair stylist, Fay Abdullah of Hoi Polloi, plus a Chateau Gateaux cake for one lucky lady from each table. Guest speakers of the morning, Carey Van Raalte and Chrystal Austin, had the guests captivated and moved.
The event, which was sponsored by Sanlam for the second year in a row, was a great success and funds raised from the breakfast will enable The Sunflower Fund to create awareness as well as educate and recruit more blood stem cell donors. This is fundamental in offering the hope of life to patients suffering from life-threatening blood diseases like leukaemia who are in need of a blood stem cell transplant from a matching donor.
