Pictured is Durban father Anil Singh with his 3 and a half year old daughter, Avariyah Singh.
Avariyah’s mom is Viraksha Singh – a finance administrator and part-time photographer. Anil is a Data Operations Controller.
Avariyah is a very loving, shy but talkative and curious little girl. She doesn’t like being corrected; she believes she’s an adult! “Avariyah may be daddy’s little girl but she takes after her mom. She enjoys dancing and entertains us with her moves,” laughs her mom. “She is also creative; she watches the series “Mister Maker” and does crafts with me. Avariyah always loved her books, from her first baby book at three months. She reads the pictures and makes up stories with her vivid imagination.”
“Being a dad to Avariyah is the most rewarding role I have played in my life. To have someone that looks up to me for answers to her questions or to kiss her ‘boo-boos’. Avariyah means ‘the first ray of light from the sun’ and indeed she is the light in our lives. Our lives have shone so brightly since she blessed us with her presence,” says Anil.
“My advice to other dads would be to be patient with your child and your wife – moms do have a tougher job than dads. Be supportive in your child’s activities to show them that their dad is also very much involved in their interests,” he concludes.
