A Weekend of Luxury at Brahman Hills

By Mums Mail Magazine26/07/20182 Mins Read

I recently was fortunate to go for a long weekend at Brahman Hills and soon discovered that the venue and location were truly stunning! Situated near Nottingham Road in the KZN Midlands, surrounded by natural forest, this really is a place you do not want to miss.

We arrived to a welcome glass of bubbles and a tour of the venue, including their fabulous restaurant ’89 on Copper’, which is stylish yet relaxing. The restaurant is situated in the cellar and the designer has used shiny copper pipes as accents against the rustic stone and wooden textures – with vintage bottles of wine and port stored in the bare brick walls, it works beautifully. We then viewed the rest of the hotel and accommodation before being whisked off to our own self-catering cottage, where we were to spend the weekend – this came complete with an outdoor jacuzzi! The cottage accommodates up to 9 people, and is perfect for family gatherings or a girlie weekend. Bright and early the next morning we enjoyed a lovely 2.5 hour walk in the picturesque Blue Crane Reserve, surrounded by gentle Brahman cattle.

Our next surprise of the weekend was a delicious lunch, lots more bubbles and an afternoon of pure indulgence in the Brahman Hills Spa – I could’ve stayed there forever, I have never experienced anything quite like it.  The day ended with a sumptuous 5 course wine pairing dinner in the cellar at ’89 on Copper’, before we retired to our cottage with full tummies and warm hearts. I had to leave early the next day, so I didn’t get a chance to experience The Midlands Kitchen for lunch but with 15 kitchens to choose from, I will certainly be heading back! Brahman Hills also hosts weddings at their waterside chapel and have facilities for 10 to 380 guests at the reception. They can even hold conferences at the hotel or in the Agility Hub.
