“God is merciful and we need to ask his forgiveness only once. Unfortunately some people don’t accept it that way and they expect you to repeatedly ask forgiveness.”
Those are the words of controversial Springbok and Blue Bulls lock Bakkies Botha in the latest edition of Christian magazine Juig!.
He talks about his “flesh that became weak”.

Botha was specifically referring to the incident in July in which he headbutted All Black scrumhalf Jimmy Cowan in the first minute of a Tri-Nations Test. The incident made headlines in rugby countries all over the world and Botha was suspended for a lengthy period.
He says the aspect that really disappointed him about the headbutting is that he “disappointed so many people, but also failed my Creator”.
