Black day for BlackBerry

By The Ridge Magazine11/10/20111 Min Read

October 11, 2011. Reminiscent of the major Vodacom failure of recent times, was the black day endured by BlackBerry users in parts of SA yesterday. Many users in Durban were unable to send and receive messages via the BlackBerry Messenger service, and were unable to browse the web effectively.

Messages sent by this writer around 11am yesterday had still not been answered by the close of play yesterday and, assuming an unstable network, it was decided to revert to plan B, SMS or the landline. It kind of defeats the whole idea of getting a BlackBerry.

Messages on BBM and through Whatsapp seem to be playing the game this morning.

Loved this chirp on Twitter: And iPhone users everywhere smile smugly and search for the “I Told You So” app. – Ridge Correspondent
