Then save these dates because the East Coast Radio House & Garden Show is inviting the whole family to ‘Make Yourself at Home’ from 28 June to 7 July at the Durban Exhibition Centre with a show that is bigger, better and more entertaining than ever before.
Magic for You & the Kids
While your kids are kept busy in the Melissa and Doug play space, this is your chance to explore the latest home décor and garden trends and browse the best of what local designers, creators and makers have to offer at your leisure. This year, your kids will be hosted by the Magic Bean Foundation – an organisation that specialises in keeping children entertained with fun educational activities, arts and crafts, imaginary play and interactive exercises. While you’re soaking up the inspiration or taking a breather, know that your kids are living their best life, learning new skills and making new friends.
For the bigger kids, there’s Tourism KZN’s virtual-reality experience where they can feel like they’re surfing on Durban’s golden mile or zip-lining across a deep gorge.
There might even be enough time for you to grab a delicious bite to eat courtesy of some of Durban’s popular eateries and top chefs or sneak in a craft gin, custom-made bubbly or craft beer. There will also be live music by local artists to really get you in the mood to relax.
Decor Ideas to Take Home
Keen to redecorate your home? Be inspired by some of Durban’s top interior designers, affiliated with the African Institute of Interior Design Professions (IID) who will show you simple and practical ways to bring the latest décor trends to life in your own home. You’ll also find plenty of locally-made home décor products in the Home-Grown Design fair.
Local Design at its Best
Prepare to be wowed with this year’s Discover Durban Design installation, curated by renowned South African stylist, Claire Clark, in collaboration with Angela Shaw of the KZNSA Gallery. Based on Afro-Futura, the exhibition will highlight the immensely original work of Durban’s emerging and established artists and designers in a visual journey that is bold and brave. Local fashion and jewellery design will be featured alongside furniture, ceramics and textiles as well as exceptional works of art, inviting visitors to experience something completely new; art that is edgy, dramatic and immersive and will make you proud to call KZN home.
Bring your Green Fingers
For our green-fingered fundis, look out for beautifully created garden installations around the venue, put together by a host of exhibitors showcasing their products at this year’s show. Come ready to shop the latest in gardening trends and leave the show with a boot full of new plants and a head full of new ideas.

To the foodies and budding cooks out there, your taste buds are in for a real treat as Durban Tourism brings you Discover Durban Cuisine. Top-class chefs will share their tips and tricks to help you conquer in the kitchen and impress even your fussiest friends with your new cooking skills.
