It was a day of fun and merriment as World AIDS Day was celebrated with a Christmas market at the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust on Saturday 28 November.
There were stalls galore selling everything from delicious coffee to second-hand books and goods to hand-crafted items. There was a lively tea garden, a jumping castle for the children and rocking live music from Abangwele male acapella group, the local band Parable Fifteen and up-and-coming artist, Robz Millar. There were also loads of raffle prizes.
“Our Christmas market was a great way to mark World AIDS Day – celebrating income opportunities for people impacted by HIV/AIDS and showcasing the huge talents harboured by local crafters. Many visitors also did a HIV test, increasing the number of people in KZN who now know their HIV status and can take steps to either protect themselves from future infection, or to get onto ARVs in order to live a long and healthy life with HIV,” said Olivia Myeza, CEO of HACT.
