Have you driven along Village Road, Kloof recently and noticed the buzz at number 2 (Fields Hill side)? Well, that’s thanks to Justin Vella and his team, who have created a wonderful haven where you can relax, have a cup of coffee, pick up some flowers and – now – experience all-South African fashion brand RuthAnne!
Jooma opened towards the end of 2011, bringing new life to the block, and was an instant hit with mums and business people alike. The coffee is top notch and the staff are just great. I pop in whenever I have a chance!
Just a few weeks ago, Margaret Vella and Christy Chubb took over the room next door to the coffee shop, transforming it into a chic florist and decor hub – Talking Flowers – where you can pick up a bouquet or get the ladies to put together a stunning entertainment box for you – providing the perfect flowers and decor for your dinner parties. They also do weddings, from conception to putting the decor and flowers together on the big day.
But this isn’t just a place to rush in to grab a country bunch. The team are incredibly creative and have produced an array of gorgeous arrangements, starting from as little as R25. “It isn’t always about the sale,” says Margaret. “We want people to feel comfortable here – to pop in to say hello and have a look around. We want to be part of the community.”
New this week, is RuthAnne’s pop-up shop, offering a fresh approach to fashion. The range is 100% South African, made from fabrics milled in Cape Town and designed in East London. This is the first time the label has been introduced to the Kloof audience and I have no doubt it will be a hit. Luxurious fabrics, classic colours and comfy layers make this a range that you can come back to time and time again, building a wardrobe that is individually you.
“I love seeing women realise that they can try a new silhouette – that they are beautiful,” says RuthAnne.
The range is complemented by beautiful accessories from Bead Beautiful, a local brand that offers necklaces, bags and scarfs from R95.
