December 17, 2010. Popular East Coast Radio drive show presenter Darren Scott has called time on his East Coast Radio career (for now) and will pursue business and broadcasting interests closer to home based in Gauteng.
It’s understood that the recent arrival of his son Mark, plus his broadcasting and business responsibilities have meant that Scott has had to make the decision to give up his afternoon slot at the local radio station.
He told the ECR website: “What a ride! I had always wanted to do the double show thing but never actually thought I would do it … And now 3 years later it’s coming to an end!!! It is a difficult decision to make …. So much of my life is based up north, and yet I have had a relationship with the East Coast since my Capital days in the 80s.
“In the end the new boy (Mark) and my media business and home had to take precedence and ECR was the one I had to give up.”
“Thanks to all on the East Coast for being so awesome!”
East Coast Radio website: Cheers Darren!
Colleagues and fans paid tribute to the professionalism, experience and fun Scott brought to the show over the past four years.
One question for Darren: Do you have to support the Lions now?
