With more fun, excitement, camaraderie and prizes up for grabs, you can’t afford to miss the 2014 Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk. This year’s event takes place on Sunday, 18 May 2014.
The Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk has always been an event for the whole family and, with no Mini Big Walk this year, organisers are working flat out to make the event more fun and exciting for all ages.
East Coast Radio’s Marketing Manager, Renee Burton, says, “The Big Walk is so much more than just a participative event. It’s about bringing people together and we at East Coast Radio are proud to be the facilitators of that kind of movement.”
Race pack collection will take place at Moses Mabhida Stadium on 15, 16 and 17 May 2014. The pack will include a Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk T-shirt, goodie bag and race number.
“We are thrilled to be part of this event again. We are looking forward to a bigger, better Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk this year,” says Iona Maclean, Head of Experiential Marketing at Discovery.

“What is exciting about this event which we sponsor, and which reaches thousands of people in the KwaZulu Natal community, is that it serves as a platform for us to spread the message of the importance of physical activity, eating well and cultivating healthy habits in order to prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, stroke and certain cancers,” says Maclean.
Last year, a record number of people helped transform a stretch of Durban’s coastline into a sea of yellow and white. If you missed out, this year is your chance to join in, in what promises to be another memorable experience.
There is a R75 entry fee for the 20km and 15 km events; R65 for the 10km walk and R60 for the 5km.
Entries for the event opened on Tuesday 1 April 2014 and will close on Wednesday, 30 April 2014. You can sign up at selected Totalsports stores or at www.ecr.co.za.
From the moment you set off from the start at uShaka Marine World to the moment you cross the finish line at People’s Park at Moses Mabhida Stadium, you will be part of one of the most fun-filled, family events in KZN. We’re raring to go. Are you?
