DDK Events, the brainchild of entrepreneurial trio; Dionne Collett (owner of Take Note Reputation Management), Deon Steyn (owner of Audio Pixel) and Kathryn Hulett (owner of Function Dècor) will soon be playing host at the Durban July’s “Right Royal Affair” themed premier horse race with a charming “Renaissance” inspired marquee.
Last year DDK impressed the critics and fashionistas by whipping together “A Blooming Great Bollywood Extravaganza” hospitality marquee in just two weeks, which scooped the “Best Hospitality Facility” award for the 2010 Durban July! This year they plan to defend their title at the country’s most glamorous racing event and raise the bar by bringing the artistic opulence of 16th Century Venetia to the heart of Greyville Racecourse.
The DDK team is certainly equipped for the challenge. All three owners have extensive experience in the eventing industry. Dionne Collett has been involved in hospitality and travel trade for more than 15 years. She has worked at exclusive game lodges, been involved in both domestic and international sales and has been instrumental in marketing one of the largest hospitality groups in Southern Africa. Today she is the owner of a vibrant PR agency.
“No function is too big or too small,” says Deon Steyn, the owner of Audio Pixel – a sound and lighting company that specialises in servicing the hospitality and corporate industry. Deon had been involved in hospitality for several years, before he recognised a vital niche market that was lacking in the industry and subsequently formed Audio Pixel in 1997. His company has grown from strength to strength and Steyn now supplies everything from sound and lighting, audio visual equipment, staging structures, big screen TVs and AV equipment for conferences, concerts, road shows and product launches.
Kathryn Hulett founded Function Décor in 1997 and has been successfully providing clients with outstanding creative and unique décor solutions for these past past 15 years. “Stylish décor driven by a passion for innovation” is Function Décor’s mantra. The company prides itself in keeping up with international trends and Kathryn makes regular visits to international décor exhibitions with the purpose of sourcing and purchasing the latest stock for functions.
So, with experienced leadership at the helm, and a great deal of passion and excitement, DDK hopes to once again steal centre stage at this year’s Durban July on Saturday, July 2, with their elaborate “Renaissance” experience. Expect Mona Lisa look-alikes, Venetian fashion, Da Vinci type inventions and a host of other eye-catching treats – certainly an event not to be missed!
