September 8, 2011. Seven people were seriously injured in a shootout in Durban North near Northway in the vicinity of the Riverside Hotel. It’s believed four people were killed in the shooting.
A gang of about seven men planned a house robbery, but police received a tip-off and approached the suspects’ vehicle about 9am this morning in Humber Crescent near Northway (Kenneth Kaunda). The suspects opened fire and a shootout ensued.
Col Jay Naicker confirmed the incident to The Ridge, but requested police be able to gather more information before making a formal statement.
Lt Col Vincent Mdunge said members of a special task force and the Intelligence Unit were involved.
