Easter Crafts

By Mums Mail Magazine19/03/20183 Mins Read

Try these fun and easy Easter crafts with your kids in the weeks leading up to Easter!

Foam Cup Bunny

Supplies:
  • Small foam cup
  • Pink paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Pink and white cardstock paper
  • Black and pink marker
  • Googly Eyes
  • Pink pipe cleaners
  • Pink pompom
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Tape
Directions:

Start by painting the outside of your foam cup with your pink paint. Set it aside to dry completely.

While your paint is drying, cut out two bunny ears from your pink and white cardstock paper. Cut a section off of your pipe cleaner and tape it to the back of your ears.

Glue your googly eyes onto your foam cup. Use your pink and black marker to draw a nose and mouth on your bunny.

Finish your bunny craft by poking the ears down into the top of the cup and then glue the pink pompom onto the cup for the fluffy bunny tail.

DIY Salt Dough Eggs

Recipe for salt dough
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1/2 cup water

Stir together all three ingredients until a dough forms. Kneading the dough a couple times can help make it smoother. Roll it out and cut out desired shapes. Place the cut-outs on the parchment-covered baking sheets. Remember to make a hole so you can hang the ornaments – a straw works perfectly! Bake at 120°C for two hours.

Directions for salt dough Easter eggs

Once the shapes are adequately baked, dried and then thoroughly cooled, it’s painting time. Spray paint or acrylics work well. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly. Use paint pens to add polka dots or lines of decorations to the eggs. Optional: To further protect the colour and design, add a clear coat sealer.

Paper Bunny Craft

These little bunnies will make a great decoration on your Easter table. You could even hide them around the house or in the backyard for Easter egg hunt.

What you need:
  • Construction paper (various colours, Easter tones)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Googly eyes or markers

Cut two strips of paper (about 1.5 inch wide). Roll each strip into the roll and add glue to form a tube (the one for the head a little bit narrower than the body one). Once that is dry, glue the rolls together (use two paper clips to hold the rolls together while the glue dries).

Cut two ears and two inner parts of the ears (or draw them with the marker).

Cut the bottom part – a base with two bunny legs. Glue the base onto the bottom part of the body roll. Let it dry. Stick the ears on the head part.

Add googly eyes and draw facial details. Hop, hop!
