Patrick Holford

Globally acclaimed nutritional expert, Patrick Holford has hit out hard in his latest book ‘Good Medicine’, citing that it is not the lack of drugs but rather the lack of good nutrition that is causing the plethora of chronic diseases ailing our modern world.

Bad health habits together with the side effects of over-medication and adverse reactions to drugs are the reasons disease and illness plague so many of us.

In ‘Good Medicine’, Holford says the vast majority of health conditions which have become the “accepted” norm in present-day society, especially the chronic diseases, can mostly be attributed to too much of the “bad stuff” and not enough of the “good”.

Poor diets based on refined foods, a sedentary lifestyle and an intake of many prescribed medicines to address ill health tilts our health towards the bad, resulting in our bodies being in an unnatural long-term “inflammatory” state, causing our body systems to become out of balance and a breeding ground for ailments and disease.

In the book, Holford sets out a complete guide based on good science and independent research of the most effective, safest and natural ways to help prevent and also reverse many of the diseases plaguing our society. It covers over 75 of the world’s most common health problems and offers nutritional solutions to help prevent or reverse them. They are all tried and tested and have been proven to work, both in clinical research and in practice.

‘Good Medicine’ looks at why we get sick in the first place, explains the root causes and how and why the natural approach makes sense. It explains which the worst and best foods to eat are and which extra nutrients and supplements are needed – a comprehensive resource of what really works for the most common health problems, not by suppressing symptoms with medication but by understanding why we get sick and dealing with the underlying reasons.

‘Good Medicine’ is available in all leading retail books stores at R310.

Patrick Holford will present a series of in-depth seminars and workshops in Johannesburg, Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Cape Town in October 2014 as part of his nationwide tour. This is your chance to learn how to look after the health of yourself and your family through nutrition and to avoid, and if need be, reverse disease and ill-health.

Bookings open at Computicket on 1 May 2014. Early bird booking discounts will be available.
