KwaZulu-Natal Dressage has enjoyed the support and sponsorship of Land Rover Durban for the last 12 months. Now, Land Rover Durban brings you the FEI World Challenge Dressage Competition at Shongweni Club, 14 to 17 October.
Over the past year, the growth experienced in the number of riders participating has increased and Riders throughout the country continue to talk about the Fabulous Land Rover Durban Shows and the world class facilities of the Durban Shongweni Club. The warm hospitality of the organisers and officials, makes riders want to return time and again!
Also supporting this show is Performance Sales International, Germany who will be awarding a week’s training and accommodation to the two winning riders of the Prix St George and the Advanced Sections. Supersport TV will also be filming on Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17 October, for broadcast at a later date.
Riders not qualifying for the World Challenge Competition will compete in the Land Rover Durban Challenge Competition.
Stylish, knowledgeable and humours compare, Trevor Bern, will be doing the announcing for the four days as well as interviewing riders, grooms, spectators and sponsors, and judges for TV.
Wednesday 16 October, is undoubtedly going to be one of the Highlights of the Show. This will see the Land Rover Durban Challenge Classes taking place in the morning together with some Freestyle Classes. The corporate lunch will see 120 guests seated in the Land Rover Durban Marque. Pre-lunch drinks of Pimms and Cheery Beer will be served on the new Deck. Guests will then enjoy a sit down 3 course meal in the Marque while listening to the gentle melodies of Pink Ice. Each of the 120 guests will be presented with take home gifts valued at over R1 000 each!
The Land Rover Durban Celebrity Jump and Drive will commence at 2pm. This will see 15 teams of two each, taking on the challenge to win the generous purse of R10 000! Each Driver will complete a precision obstacle course in a Land Rover and then on completion the Rider jumps out the car, vaults onto the horse and completes a course of eight jumps at no less than 1m high. This is of course all against the clock!
Some of the celebrity drivers attending will be Hank McGregor, Andrew Hill, John Smit and Shaun Pollock. Others still to be confirmed.
