Make fancy decorations, colourful frames, and gift tags using salt dough. Shape it, bake it, and paint for a luscious finish, and transform simple salt dough into these special presents.
You will need:
• 300g plain flour
• 100g salt
• 1 tsp cooking oil
• 200ml water
Make some dough:
Pour all ingredients into a mixing bowl, and then mix them together with your hands until you can make a ball.
To make decorations:
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Roll out some dough to 5mm thickness. Using a round cookie cutter, cut out some round shapes.
Place the shapes onto the baking tray and cut out the middles with a star cookie cutter. Take out the centre shapes and place on the tray as well. Use a straw to make a hole in the top of each decoration/shape.
Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, then leave to cool. Next, paint the decoration to your liking and let dry. Place the decoration over a photo and draw around the edge – cut out the photo slightly smaller than the outer edge. Spread glue on the back of the decoration and position the photo in the frame. Leave the glue to dry and attach a ribbon through the hole. Hang your new personalised decorations on your Christmas tree!
