The Kloof Rest Home Association has been reborn as The Hills Retirement Community, building on 113 years of trust and professionalism, with a range of vibrant retirement options and a reputation for top-class care
The Hills Retirement Community is the umbrella organisation that ensures the continued levels of care and service that our community has come to rely on, across a range of seven superbly-appointed properties. “While our name and branding have changed, the heritage, values and quality of care remain the same,” says CEO Craig Smith.
“Management at The Hills Retirement Community focus on providing appropriate advice, rather than ensuring they have bums in beds,” says Henry Spencer, retirement consultant and committee member. This puts the emphasis on extending support to the individual and family, and is reflected in everything they do. The team go out of their way to offer solutions at what can be both a challenging and exciting time for those concerned. It is all part of the Hills drive to be “The Go-To People” for retirement.
To further this aim, an inaugural Hills Retirement Expo was held in October 2017. The unprecedented attendance by the wider Durban community reflects the need for and interest in information on this complex topic.
Established in 1904, The Hills Retirement Community is a registered non-profit organisation, with any revenue generated from the sale of Life Rights invested in the maintenance of the seven first-rate Estates and Care Homes.
The Hill’s circle of care provides a vibrant lifestyle for retirement with prioritised access to assisted living and advanced care. Each case is assessed individually, with the best solution sought to ensure fulfillment throughout life. Professional support includes medical advice and lifestyle assistance, with the team (if they themselves are unable to assist), referring their clients to a network of trusted experts.
Retirement is not about waiting for God. It is about making the most of the available opportunities, to the full extent of one’s ability! The Hills Retirement Community’s goal is to assist you to enjoy the freedom and facilities that you desire and deserve.
The Hills Retirement Community has a proud association with Rotary, which has been an invaluable supporter of the NPO over the years. Today, a number of Rotarians sit as committee members and assist in other ways, across the group of Estates. This includes Selwyn Comrie, who serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
“Running a retirement community comes with huge responsibility, and it is an important and growing need,” Craig continues. “We want to be included in people’s thoughts when they consider retirement.”
