There are many ways to crack an egg. There are many ways to get fit, and fads come and go, spinning and cycling are on a lot of lists, gym is also going to get you there, in fact any exercise is better than none, but the one that I have seen transform and energise more of my friends than any other has to be kettlebells.
People who go to kettlebells are fiercely protective of their own instructor. There is David Ozario up at Virgin Gateway, or the wonderful guys at Greyville gym, but the man I have had the most to do with has to be Sean Temple at Flux Motion.
Sean used to play at London Irish with my brother-in-law Chris Sheasby, and Neil Hatley, so he has a background of playing sport internationally, and over the years has tried a huge variety of fitness regimes.
The one he has commited to is kettlebells. It is a unique way of getting fit, no two sessions are the same, and the newcomer can join in a session alongside seasoned experts. The lovely Julie Christie, who does a huge number of classes at Flux has transformed her body, overcome ankylosing spondylitis, and got rid of all the joint pain she used to suffer with.

Sean is a capable pair of hands, and works you just hard enough to get the benefit without causing injury. There is a real sense of camaraderie amongst the guys in the classes. The legend is that in one Sharks game this season, four tries were scored, and all by Flux kettlebells boys.
Give it a try, it gives results, and it’s quick. A half hour class is all round exercise from top to toe. You start with a light bell and move up towards bells so heavy I can’t even move them. For R80 you can drop in and do a class, for R400 you can do two a week or you can become addicted and for R600 go to unlimited classes.
Give it a go, and if you are doubtful, look at Julie’s picture, if that doesn’t motivate you, I don’t know what will! www.fluxmotion.net for information on class times. They are situated at Lincoln on the Lake, Gateway, and Sean Temple is on 078 166 2698.
