According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the singer’s former tour manager, David Ciemny, claims Lady Gaga would binge on cakes and sweets, then not eat for weeks to fit into her costumes – once losing 9kg between fittings for one of her outfits.
Describing Lady Gaga’s condition, David says in Maureen Callahan’s new book Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga: “When I say she was sick, I mean physically and mentally.”
Despite six hospital stints last year, the 24-year-old star’s health problems have continued into 2010, with her being forced to cancel four US shows in January because she was suffering from an irregular heartbeat. The Lovegame singer also broke down in New Zealand in March and recently tested “borderline positive” for Lupus, a tissue disease which killed her aunt.
In other Gaga related news, MTV says the Bad Romance singer reportedly shocked friends when she started talking about herself in third person. A close friend, transsexual Amanda Lepore, revealed in Callahan’s book Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga that Lady G ‘crossed the boundary’ when she started referring to herself differently.
Gaga was said to have invited Amanda and some friends round for dinner at her ex-boyfriend Speedy’s house last year where Lapore claimed Gaga started acting strangely. Lepore recalled: “She was really down-to-earth, but then she was like ‘Oh, Gaga would do this,’ ‘Gaga that.’ I think she’s crossed that boundary.”
