parkrun, the international movement promoting healthy living, has a second location in the Upper Highway, offering runners and walkers a challenging 5km course on the edge of the Valley of 1000 Hills.
Launched in February 2016 by Tracey Whiting and her team of volunteers, the route has already gained a host of accolades, including being called “the toughest parkrun in South Africa” by parkrun ambassador Bruce Fordyce.
The route is entirely on trail paths so has a country feel and spectacular views, which have attracted parkrun tourists from across the country. “We encourage anyone and everyone to join us – even if you walk it,” says Tracey.
The run takes place at Wootton Avenue, Botha’s Hill every Saturday at 8am. Entry is free but you must register at www.parkrun.co.za and remember to bring your barcode.
