You are invited to join the Botanical Society of SA-KZN Coastal Branch on a botanical ramble through the upper eastern slopes of Giba Gorge in Winston Park on Saturday, 22 November at 08h15 for 08h30.
The grassland has been burnt recently and the flowering should be good. The vegetation type is KwaZulu-Natal Sandstone Sourveld, which is classified as ‘Endangered’ by the South African Biodiversity Institute.
Trafford Pettersen of Ethekwini’s Environmental Planning and Climate Protection Department will be in attendance.
The terrain is sloping, rocky and exposed so please wear hiking boots and bring a hat and water. Bring a chair and teas for afterwards.
There is no cost to Bot-soc members; non-members are welcome but are asked to pay a R20 donation. Directions will be given on booking.
Booking is essential. Please contact Lindsay Bowker (preferably) by email at lindsaybowker@gmail.com or alternatively phone 083 659 5052.
