A local family of six is homeless after a fire destroyed their home and all belongings on Saturday 21 June 2014.
The family are devastated at the loss of their home and everything they owned at the property at 131 Stockville Road. The fire consumed the entire house while the family was out shopping for groceries.
“I have contacted Disaster Management on behalf of the family but the assistance given by the department is very limited,” says Councillor Rick Crouch. “I am asking any community members that can assist the family to please do so. The family consists of four adults and two young children of 6 years old and 5 months old.”
“Any assistance that can be rendered will be appreciated by the family who are absolutely devastated.”
Anyone wishing to assist can do so by contacting either the victim of the fire, Nancy Govensamy, on 072 368 0487. Alternatively, contact Ward Coucillor Rick Crouch on (031) 764 1178, (073) 418 6996 or email councillor@ward10.co.za.
