Congratulations to Sarah-Lee Sadler from Holy Rosary School, the winner of the Greenstone Kids Recycling Project!
Customers, parents and teachers voted her art piece called STRAWS as the best design in the centre’s kids recycling project. She wins a R5000 Greenstone gift card and a R5000 Greenstone gift card for her school. The second place winner is ‘Recyclaville’ by Layla Theron from Hurlyvale Primary School and third place is ‘Bubble painting’ by Aimee Botha who is homeschooled. Local primary and nursery schools were invited to join in the Green theme by making art pieces or reusable homemade items from any ‘trash’.
Shoppers were invited to Rethink Waste at the centre’s Eco Fun Day on Saturday 16 March. A kiddies’ theatre show titled Reduce, Reuse and Recycle with Betty Button taught little ones the need to recycle and the importance of not littering. Other fun activities included eco planting, crafting with recyclables, learning how to make Eco Bricks, paper recycling with Ronnie Recycler, Cartridge disposal with Mr Cartridge from Green Office.
Recycling at home and looking for a drop off point? The centre’s recycling station can be found on the outside of the centre just behind Game. Already separated Paper, Plastic, Glass and Cans can be dropped off 24 hours a day. Batteries, Ink cartridges and already assembled eco bricks can be delivered at Pick n Pay and Woolworths during trading hours.
Greenstone Shopping Centre hopes to have inspired all to Save the Planet and start recycling!
