I am so sorry about the pause in the posts over the last week, but shingles defeated and arm in sling from a fall I am back with some last minute tips to make your Christmas go with a bang and make sure you go smiling into the Christmas break.
If you have left your Christmas shopping until now, you may well be a man. If you are you need a plan which will combine the pain of shopping with some pleasurable acitivity. With this in mind you should pop into Shoppe on Marriot, where beautiful Christmas gifts are stacked up close to the lovely hostelry which is Market, allowing you to point at something beautiful while drinking a beer. This is a treasure trove of wonderful bits. from cookery books to skull earrings, beautiful sayings for your walls, and blissfully free of the nightmare crowds of Gateway.
If you are shopping in Umhlanga, Synergy at the Umhlanga Pharmacy offers the same wonderful combination, you can find the gift of your dreams and in two steps be sitting with a cold beer in Steak and Ale or The George. All the produce is proudly South African, and you can choose from such gems as bar stools which double as ice buckets for your beer, lift off the lid and your beer is cool beneath you, and you are cool beneath……they are open every day including Christmas Day until 8pm.
If you are too exhausted to bother with shopping, buy vouchers and head up the coast to the Prawn Shak, and have a chilled day drinking and eating, starting at around 11am and finishing when you can’t take any more caramel vodka shots with little baby prawns swimming around in them. Seven courses, prawns galore, Zulu fillet, a swim in the sea to refresh yourselves, and some caramelised brie to finish off all for R170. Fabulous, make sure you book on 083 303 4746 and have a look at their website, www.shak.co.za for details of their legendary New Year’s Eve party and much, much more
