When you consider that the Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre serves a staggering 131 400 meals a year to the 120 orphaned and vulnerable children in their care, you begin to realise just how much a sponsored meal can help make a difference for this Children’s Home.
“Ensuring that our children receive 3 nutritious meals a day to aid healthy growth and development, and to help them to concentrate at school, is a priority for us. However, the ever-rising cost of living is placing extreme pressure on our resources, so we are appealing to the community for assistance because every sponsored meal is a huge help for us,” says Lee Jarrett, PR and Fundraising Manager.
There are two ways in which you can help.
“Our Happy Meal project is a wonderful way for the community to engage with us and make a valuable contribution, and the happiness and joy that it brings to our children is a wonderful blessing,” explains Lee. These meals are either a lunch or supper served over the weekend or any day during the school holidays. Donors are also more than welcome to treat the children with the hire of a jumping castle or similar activity for a few hours to enjoy should they so wish.
“Alternatively, our grocery cupboard is in desperate need of food donations. We would like to appeal to companies, church and service organisations to please consider assisting us by arranging a food collection on our behalf, which we will gladly collect from your premises. If you can help, then please contact us for a list of the dry groceries we are in most need of,” says Lee.
The Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre cares for 120 children between the ages of 2 and 18 years of all race and creed. Through its development programmes, the Home is committed to helping each child reach their full potential by providing a safe and loving environment, 3 meals a day and access to education, therapeutic and spiritual support.
