iafrica.com reported last week that Chanticleer Holdings has announced plans to open its third Hooters restaurant in Cape Town. The establishment will open on Edward Street in South Africa’s “Mother City”, the company said.
Chanticleer’s other South African Hooters restaurants include “Hooters on the Rocks” (Umhlanga) and “Hooters on the Buzz” (Joburg), with Cape Town set to follow shortly.
The three restaurants are part of a joint venture with SGShaw Food, which is chaired by Umhlanga entrepreneur Spencer Shaw. According to the report, the firms plan to open at least four additional Hooters restaurants in the country over the next five years.
Chanticleer Holdings CEO Michael Pruitt told iafrica.com: “Opening our third Hooters restaurant in South Africa affirms our successful track record of extending the Hooters brand in Africa.
“Our partnership with SGShaw Food has proven invaluable. Their expertise in food services, paired with their proven ability to identify, secure and develop our Durban and Johannesburg locations, gives us high expectations for the new Cape Town location.”
